At a time when chain stores dominate the market, a community of independent businesses thrives in the Southwestern city of Bristol, England. Recently named the longest road in Europe with the most independent businesses, Gloucester Road and Stokes Croft house a variety of businesses from a 110-year-old traditional butchers to gentrified artist co-ops and record shops. Independents documents these businesses and introduces the proprietors and employees fighting to maintain Gloucester Road’s status as the last great British high street.
